Rapids Withstand Sporting Siege

Well I got my prediction from Saturday half right.  KC did outplay us, badly, but not in the one thing that counts, the scoreboard.  Kortne Ford got his first professional goal early on and then KC laid siege to our goal but the Rapids defense held up for the 1-0 win.
  • Great snap header from Ford for the early goal.
  • Unfortunately it led to an awful game to watch.  Colorado put everyone behind the ball and gave KC the run of the game.
  • Sporting had 73% of the possession and in all but one 5 minute window dominated possession.
  • After Ford's goal the Rapids didn't get another shot until the 34th minute (on-target header from Doyle).
  • The Rapids had no shots on target in the second half.
  • A heads up from the Rapids about the increased security would have been nice (more on that later this week).
  • I watched the second half from the top of 116 just to get a different perspective on the game and possible scouting for new seats next year.  I should have watched the first half from there and gone back to 108 in the 2nd to be closer to the action.
  • Breaking out thee Bodmer Line stat for the first time this season.  To remind readers, the Bodmer Line is the pts/game pace the Rapids have to play at to reach 46 points this season, which is the average point total for the 6th placed teams (the final playoff place) in a 34 game season.  Named after the Grand Poobah of C38, Mark Bodmer, who bugged me to run the stat.  The Bodmer Line currently sits at 1.64 pts/game, .07 less than our pace last season.
Man of the Match: Kortne Ford.  Goal, one of the other two shots on target (another good header), and a couple of perfect tackles on defense to break up promising KC chances.  His best game as a pro.
